FTT®: Fabric Touch Tester - SDL Atlas
Introducing the FTT®: Fabric Touch Tester from SDL Atlas
The FTT®: Fabric Touch Tester is an innovative solution designed for the textile industry, providing an objective and quantitative measurement of fabric's skin touch comfort. Engineered to perform a comprehensive analysis in just a five-minute test, the FTT manages to evaluate a variety of fabric properties, including thickness, compression, bending, roughness, friction, and thermal properties. These evaluations contribute to 18 distinct indices for each fabric side, assessing the material in both the warp and weft directions.
Comprehensive Testing with Sophisticated Design
SDL Atlas has crafted the FTT with sophistication, enabling it to capture all mechanical and surface properties of fabrics through a singular, simple test. It assesses smoothness, softness, warmth, and the overall hand/touch feel of the fabric. Thanks to the movement of its upper and lower plates, the FTT executes varied measurements across multiple modules, including thermal-compression, surface friction, roughness, and bending, ensuring a total comfort profile for each tested fabric.
Global Supply Chain Consistency
Comparable to a spectrophotometer's role in color measurement, the FTT stands as a pivotal instrument in measuring, communicating, and comparing fabric hand. It ensures consistency across the global supply chain, benefiting research and development, designers, manufacturers, and test labs. With its QC Software, users can calculate numeric differences between samples, visualize comparisons through a Radar Chart, and set quality control parameters. This functionality has previously only been achievable with the highly expensive and complex Kawabata instruments, making the FTT a game-changing tool for the industry.
