Vibrotex 400 – Fiber Crimp Analysis – Lenzing

Advanced Fiber Crimp Testing Technology

VIBROTEX 400 offers thorough analysis of the crimp properties of single fibers for production quality control, research and development as well as for educational purposes. This laboratory instrument provides determination of the crimp properties of staple fiber including crimp stability, removing/recovering crimp and crimp regularity of staple fiber.

Proven Technology and Experience

The applied technology is based on many years of research conducted within Lenzing AG, with more than two decades of experience matched with excellence in mechanics and latest processor technology. VIBROTEX 400 meets all requirements of fiber producers for accurate, flexible and thorough analysis of the crimp characteristics of staple fiber.

Quick and Reliable Results

Test results are available within seconds for quick reactions to quality levels and possible deviations from set quality levels. Results are represented graphically as well as in terms of figures on the connected PC, enabling immediate feedback for production quality control.

Sophisticated Test Method

Electromagnetic clamps fix the pre-tensioned fiber at top and bottom. The fiber is automatically drawn to carefully remove the crimp to a predefined extent. After the fiber has been straightened to the predefined trip level, the bottom clamp changes direction towards relaxation of the fiber. The applied algorithm allows for extrapolation up to the standard crimp removal of 1 cN/tex. For handling purposes, pretension is accomplished by means of paper weights, preventing the crimp properties from being affected by the pretensioning.

FAQ - Vibrotex 400 – Fiber Crimp Analysis – Lenzing

What is the Vibrotex 400 used for?

The Vibrotex 400 is a laboratory instrument designed for determination of crimp properties of staple fiber, including crimp stability, crimp removal/recovery, and crimp regularity. It's ideal for production quality control, research and development, and educational purposes.

How does the Vibrotex 400 measure crimp properties?

The instrument uses electromagnetic clamps to fix the pre-tensioned fiber at top and bottom. The fiber is automatically drawn to carefully remove the crimp to a predefined extent, then the direction changes towards relaxation. This process records the tension vs. elongation curve while ensuring crimp properties remain unaffected.

What makes the Vibrotex 400 technology reliable?

The technology is based on more than two decades of research conducted within Lenzing AG. It features a unique clamping and force measuring system that ensures highest reliability of results, with automatic calibration through a built-in weight system.

How fast can the Vibrotex 400 provide test results?

Test results are available within seconds, with approximately 1 minute testing time per fiber. This enables quick reactions to quality levels and possible deviations from set quality standards in production environments.

What fiber types can be tested with the Vibrotex 400?

The Vibrotex 400 can test single staple fibers with a range of linear density from 0.1 to 60 dtex. It accommodates various fiber types within its tension range of more than 1 cN/tex up to maximum 6 gram, with other ranges available on request.

What accessories are included with the Vibrotex 400?

The instrument includes a set of paper weights, working pad and tweezers, puncher and hammer for self-made paper weights. Optional accessories include a vibration isolation platform and OPC UA interface for enhanced connectivity and precision.
