Description
Impact Penetration Tester
Testing for Water Repellency
A textile’s water repellency property refers to the waterproof quality of the item through a thin surface layer that prevents the outer layer of fabric becoming saturated with water. The effectiveness of this surface layer will determine how protective the item, be it garments like outwear, rainwear or outdoor gear like tents and tarps, are in keeping the user dry. The two primary test methods for testing for Water Repellency are AATCC 22: Water Repellency, Spray Test and AATCC 42: Water Resistance, Impact Penetration.
SDL Atlas offers two precision instruments for evaluating to these water repellency test methods: the Impact Penetration Tester, fortesting for AATCC 42 and the Spray Rate Tester for testing AATCC 22.
